A camp fire is essential to a good camping stay! Each camping pod, bell tent and tent pitch has an allocated area for a camp fire. We can provide you will a large bag of logs which includes kindling and fire lighters for £5 per bag. Depending on your usage a bag will last you one to two nights. You are also welcome to bring your own logs. We would ask you kindly to refrain from gathering fire wood from the woodland. Mostly the wood is “green” and really won’t burn very well. But most importantly, these logs provide an important wildlife habitat for small mammals and insects.
Under the Night Sky
Our camp site is literally “off the grid”. We have no mains electricity on site; there is no light pollution either. Sit out and enjoy a proper starry sky. Do remember to bring a torch for the late night trips to the loo!
Mighty Oak Package
If you would rather travel lite, let us supply your crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and saucepans with our Mighty Oak Package available for hire at £10 per stay.

Your welfare whilst on site
We want you to come, have a wonderful stay, and go home again as safely as you arrived. Ostler’s Wood is on the edge of a working farm. There is a public footpath that runs along side the farm yard. Farms can be dangerous places. Please do not leave the footpath to stray into the farm yard. Tractors have the right of way at all times. The tractor driver may not be able to hear you as well as you can hear him. We would draw your attention particularly to stacks of hay or straw. The big round bales are very heavy and the stacks become unstable if you were to climb on them. Please ensure any children in your party are aware of this.
