For the grown-ups in your group you’d be mad if you didn’t just light the campfire, open a chilled bottle of something and sit back with a book. For the children, join them in the woods to build dens and explore! But after that here is a short brain dump of our favourite places to help you plan your stay with us.
The small town of Spilsby is your nearest for most essentials. It’s about 15 mins in the car. There is a small Sainsbury’s and Ambridge’s the fish and chip shop is excellent. At the top of the hill on the way to Spilsby is East Keal’s shop and post office which sells suberb Dennett’s ice cream in many wonderful flavours.
While we’re talking about ice cream, Skinner’s Ice Cream in Boston is not to be missed. One flavour only, but so good!
Beaches
- Skegness is a must for full on traditional family sea-side fun!
- Chapel St Leonards is a smaller version of Skegness with a lovely bar on the beach
- Chapel Point is a beautiful sandy beach with a café
- Chapel Six Marshes is our favourite spot! There is nothing here except a sandy beach!
The most reliable pub closest to the site in terms of opening hours for food is the Red Lion at Revesby. There are plenty of other pubs around but the Red Lion has good opening hours for serving food. There is also a kid’s play area outside.
The farm park at Tattershall is worth a visit with children. It has a soft play area and plenty of other activities under cover on a wet day. Both children and parents will enjoy the restaurant for lunch. While you are in the area Tattershall Castle is a nice place to stop for a picnic.
Family Attractions
- Parrots and tigers at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park
- Rescued seals at Natureland
- Skegness Aquarium
For plane and military buffs the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Centre and Lincolnshire Heritage Aviation Centre are worth a visit. The latter being only a few miles from our site.
Or how about a river cruise on the River Witham? The Friday Fizz cruise on the Boston Belle is very relaxing indeed! If you are part of a group of 10 or more contact Pete to arrange your own personal cruise.
Horncastle and Woodall Spa are lovely market towns worth a visit.
We hope you enjoy your stay with us and enjoy our corner of Lincolnshire.
Best regards
Carolyn
